STARR REPORT

Jim dandy: Ryan recovering nicely

“Good Day New York” co-anchor Jim Ryan, who underwent triple-bypass heart surgery last Friday, is recuperating nicely and might even call into the show as early as tomorrow to say hello to the gang.

Beginning next week, ex-CNN anchor Jim Moret, most recently Giselle Fernandez’s fill-in co-host in Los Angeles (“KTLA Morning News”), will sub for Ryan for two weeks on a per-diem basis. Moret is a former colleague of “GDNY” executive producer Scott Leon.

After Moret’s two-week stint, “GDNY” will use special celebrity guest hosts until Ryan returns to the show.

Potter gets September callup for ‘Rhea’

NBC and HBO vet Bridget Potter has been named executive producer of “The Caroline Rhea Show,” which kicks off in September with host Caroline Rhea.

While at NBC, Potter developed the Al Franken series “Lateline” and oversaw “Saturday Night Live” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” Over at HBO, she developed the Tom Hanks-produced series “From the Earth to the Moon” and the gritty prison series, “Oz.”

“Caroline” will, most likely, air in the 12:35 a.m. timeslot on Ch. 7, since Buena Vista’s “The Wayne Brady Show” inherited Rosie O’Donnell’s 10 a.m. timeslot. Buena Vista is part of Disney – which owns Ch. 7 (hence the bumping of “Caroline,” a rival Telepictures production).

Speaking of talk shows, B. Smith (“B. Smith With Style”) will shoot an episode for the fall today (10 a.m.) with actress CCH Pounder (“The Shield”) at fashion designer Courtney Washington’s store in Fort Green, Brooklyn (674 Fulton Street). Pounder will talk about “The Shield” and will show off her jewelry line, which is sold at the Borinaba Museum in Senegal, Africa.

Marc Anthony performs live (at noon) this Friday outside the CBS Studio on Fifth and 59th. The concert airs June 5 on “The Early Show” with co-hosts Jane Clayson and Russ Mitchell.

Court TV is honoring a select group of “Everyday Heroes” today on Capitol Hill. Court TV’s Henry Schleiff and Catherine Crier will be there.

“Mission Control” airs Thursday (9 p.m.) on The Travel Channel. Steven Weinstock and Glenda Hersh are the executive producers.

“Everybody Loves Raymond” co-star Peter Boyle, a rabid football fan, talking shop last week with “NFL on CBS” co-hosts Dan Marino, Jim Nantz and Boomer Esiason at the CBS upfront.

Barbara Fisher has been named executive vice president, entertainment, for Lifetime.
