HERO COP NYPD’S MAN IN UTAH

A hero cop who was buried under four feet of rubble on Sept. 11 will represent the NYPD in the opening ceremonies at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Police Officer Stephen Blihar, 42, was informed of the honor late Wednesday night and is in the Utah city now.

Four cops working alongside Blihar were killed in the attacks.

“It’s an honor to represent the NYPD. The officers that died, they were all dedicated and they loved their jobs,” the 18-year veteran told The Post. “If they could, they would do it again tomorrow.”

The veteran cop had to be dug out of the rubble; when rescuers found him, they put him in an ambulance and tried to take him to hospital. He wouldn’t go, but was later ordered from the scene because of eye injuries.

The father of two said his children – Matthew, 10, and Rachel, 9 – are more excited than he is about his role in the ceremony.
