A shipment of highly addictive painkillers – known on the streets as “hillbilly heroin” – worth a whopping $800,000 was stolen from a cargo hangar at Newark Airport this week, police said yesterday.
Newark police said nine cases of OxyContin were stolen after the company that produces the prescription drug, Emery, notified them that the cargo never reached Cardinal Health Co. in Swedesboro, N.J., on Thursday.
James Allen, an Emery spokesman, said the company has launched an investigation into the matter.
