DUBYA IN TEXAS

President Bush marked the 23rd day of his vacation yesterday by enjoying a picnic with some union workers before catching last night’s Little League World Series championship in Pennsylvania.

“Congress is on vacation – the country has never run better,” Bush joked before joining workers at U.S. Steel in West Mifflin, Pa., for their company picnic.

Bush, a former part owner of the Texas Rangers and one-time Little Leaguer himself, threw out the opening pitch before Apopka, Fla., played Japan for the championship.

Before the action started, Bush, who earlier in the summer organized a couple of T-ball games on the White House lawn, was enshrined in the Little League Hall of Excellence.
