B’KLYN TOT’S HEAT DEATH IN CAR A HOMICIDE: M.E.

The medical examiner yesterday classified the death of a Brooklyn toddler as a homicide after the boy was left alone for 30 minutes in the family car in sweltering heat.

Rafael Nuñez, 2, died at 5:31 p.m. Wednesday at Brookdale Hospital, where he was taken following the tragedy last Friday.

The cause of death was listed as hyperthermia, medical examiner’s office spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said.

Representatives of the Brooklyn DA’s office and detectives from the 75th Precinct were set to meet last night or today to talk about whether charges will be brought against the mother, Maria Nuñez.
