NEW YORK POST FROM AUG. 7, 1974

“Philipe Petit, a fearless Frenchman who has walked a tightrope in some of the most public places in the world, did it again today between the two towers of the 110-story World Trade Center. The show started at 7:30 a.m. For the next 30 minutes, downtown rush-hour traffic stopped dead. Petit, 25, was finally persuaded to stop dancing on his wire 1,350 feet above the sidewalk and was arrested, along with a friend who had helped him string the 90-foot cable. Petit has been arrested in other countries for similar performances, but this may be the first time he was rushed to a hospital to have his head examined.”
