QNS. TEEN PLUNGES TO DEATH AFTER ELEVATOR STUNT: COPS

A 14-year-old honors student died in a seven-story plunge down a Queens elevator shaft last night, police sources said.

Patrick Fanor fell from the 10th floor of 98-23 Horace Harding Expressway in Lefrak City to the top of an elevator car at the third floor.

The tragedy occurred at 8:30 p.m., as Patrick was horsing around with some other youths, police said.

The kids were playing with the elevator door and trying to force it open.

Patrick was showing his friends that the door would give way if he rammed into it hard enough, cops said.

The boy body-slammed the door – pushing it off its tracks and creating an opening wide enough that he fell into the shaft, according to cops.

Building residents say they’ve had repeated problems with the elevators.

“People make complaints all the time, but they don’t do anything,” said one resident. “I think we pay enough rent to deserve safe elevators.”

Malikah Shabazz, another resident, said, “I think a 14-year-old boy falling down an elevator shaft should be enough for us to get all new elevators.

“It’s devastating that somebody has to lose their life to bring more attention to the elevators. It should never have happened.”

Neighbors said the tragic teen was living with a sister in Florida, where he attended school. When the school year ended, he returned to Queens to live with his mom.

“He’s a straight-A student and a great soccer player,” said Doreen Price, who lives on Patrick’s floor.

“It’s a parent’s nightmare. All the dreams he had, all the hopes he had, they went down the shaft with him.”
