Less than an hour after his season, and possibly his Sacramento career, ended Sunday night in a four-game sweep vs. the Lakers, Chris Webber revealed he soon planned to visit his buddy Latrell Sprewell in New York.
“Please don’t read anything into it,” Webber said. “I do it every year.”
Indeed, Webber has spent the last two summers living with assorted friends and family in the New York area, which is why many believe the Knicks are his first choice. The prevailing feeling is that Webber is leaving the Kings, with the second-round sweep to the Lakers only adding to the sentiment. Other teams expected to be in the running along with the Knicks are the Rockets, Magic, Pacers and Pistons.
Someone familiar with Webber’s plans said the star power forward is going to take at least a week’s vacation to get away from everyone before heading to New York to see Sprewell.
