RED-HOT DEVS GO FOR BAKER’S DOZEN

The Devils look to extend their 12-game winning streak tonight when they face the Canucks at Meadowlands Arena. With a victory, the Devils would tie the 1970-71 Bruins and the 1985-86 Flyers for the fourth longest win streak in NHL history. They also are five wins away from tying the record of 17 straight set by the Penguins in ’93.

Coming off their 4-0 rout of the Rangers Wednesday night, the Devils (41-17-12-3) have won six straight at home to improve their Meadowlands mark to 21-9-6-0. Overall, they held first place in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of Ottawa, before the Senators’ game last night at San Jose.

Patrik Elias, Petr Sykora and Alexander Mogilny each have five-game point streaks, while Bobby Holik has a four-game point streak. For Mogilny, tonight marks his first meeting against the Canucks since they traded him to the Devils on March 14 of last season.

This will be the only regular season game between the clubs this season. The Devils, though, have a dominant 16-3-1-1 record against the Western Conference.

Turner Stevenson (sprained ankle) didn’t practice yesterday and is day-to-day.
