The NYU women’s basketball season ended last night in the Division III East/Northeast Sectional final as the Violets lost 74-70 in overtime to visiting Emmanuel College.
With Emmanuel leading 51-35 early in the second half, Dari Magyar, who led NYU with 17 points, sparked a 27-11 run. Meg Barber (16 points) sank a driving layup with five seconds left to cap the run and send the game to OT tied at 62-62.
The Violets (26-2), ranked No. 1 nationally, took a 70-67 lead, but Emmanuel scored the final seven points to snap NYU’s 13-game win streak.
