MOB HIT EYED AS BRONX MAN IS SLAIN WALKING DOG

A Bronx man was fatally shot last night while walking his dog near his home, police said.

Moments after Frank Santoro, 45, crumpled to the ground in a hail of gunfire, his Doberman pinscher ran home to Santoro’s wife, Maria, police said.

The distraught wife, realizing something was wrong, ran out of her house and found him nearby, on Throggs Neck Expressway, a residential street in Edgewater Park near the Throggs Neck Bridge.

Police said it appears the gunman fired from a car, striking Santoro several times just before 9:30 p.m.

“My wife said she heard three shots,” said Tony Naddeo, a tenant in Santoro’s house.

Nothing was taken from Santoro and a police source said detectives were exploring the possibility the shooting was a “low-level” mob hit.
