WHO NEEDS HOTEL LIMO? THEY’VE GOT A SCOOTER

Not every guest leaving a posh Manhattan hotel walks into a chauffeur-driven limo.

At the Parker Meridien on West 57th Street, they’re riding off on scooters.

“We thought this would be a better and more exciting way to get around traffic in the city,” said Deborah Carr, manager of the hotel, which is making the tiny vehicles available free to its guests.

“The scooters are all the craze in the city. This is really life in the fast lane.”

The hotel, which set the promotion in motion yesterday, currently has three scooters, but plans on getting more.

“This is really cool,” guest Ferry Nessen of Holland said as he cruised down West 56th Street on one of the complimentary scooters that are available at the concierge desk.

“It’s the best way to get around with all the traffic. And when you’re done, you can fold them up and carry them with you,” said the 34-year-old product manager.

Guests must wear a helmet when riding the scooters – and also sign a liability waiver in case of injury.

The scooters, which weigh 6 pounds and have an adjustable steering arm with foam grips and rear-fender friction brakes, fold to the size of a briefcase so riders can stow them under the table if they don’t want business associates to know they’re commuting on a toy.

Another guest, Colum McCartan, 41, of San Francisco, said the scooters are the best ride in town.

“I love them. Who needs a cab when you can get around by a scooter?” said McCartan, as he scooted around the hotel lobby.
