WOLF’S FADING INTO SUNSET

Warner Wolf’s sportscasting role, is not, according to sources, merely being reduced at Ch. 2. Instead, we’re told, he’s about six months away from disappearing or being provided emeritus status.

On Oct. 11, as announced this week by WCBS, Wolf will be replaced on the 11-o’clock weeknight news by Brett Haber, 31, a former ESPN “SportsCenter” anchor who has been with Fox’s Washington, D.C. station, WTTG, the last three years. D.C. is the market Wolf twice left to work for WCBS.

WCBS also announced that Wolf’s contract, ostensibly to continue as its 6 p.m. sports anchor, has been extended for at least two years. However, sources insist that Ch. 2 plans to have Haber replace Wolf at both 6 and 11 p.m., this February.
