NFL DECISION ON JETS WON’T BE TOMORROW

JACKSONVILLE — The decision regarding the validity of Bill Belichick’s contract won’t be rendered until after Tuesday, NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue indicated yesterday.

Tagliabue, who sat in on the first hour or so of Thursday’s hearing between Belichick and his legal counsel and the Jets, attended yesterday’s Jaguars-Dolphins playoff game here.

Despite the fact that sports labor attorney Jeffrey Kassler, Belichick’s hired gun, demanded to the NFL that a decision on his client’s contract be made by the end of the weekend, Tagliabue said, in no uncertain terms, that no decision will be made even on Monday.
