They started in a fullcourt press and, leading by 39 with less than eight minutes to play, the St. John’s Red Storm continued to press, although coach Mike Jarvis was not looking to run up the score against Marathon last night in the Red Storm’s 98-59 exhibition win at Alumni Hall.
With no player taller than 6-foot-8 sophomore Donald Emanuel and a roster that goes just seven deep, St. John’s will have to use its quickness and speed this season. Led by Erick Barkley’s 28 points, including 4-of-8 shooting on 3’s, the rattlesnake quick Red Storm quickly overwhelmed Marathon.
