A feisty Sophia Loren tells her fans to face it – she’s never had plastic surgery.
But the 64-year-old sex symbol adds that she’s never ruled out the possibility.
“Some people like to keep their lines – but maybe one day, I’ll say I don’t like that anymore. Then I’ll pick up the phone and go [to a plastic surgeon],” Loren tells the new issue of People magazine.
Loren – who made a smashing appearance at this year’s Oscars – also says that beauty is a question of attitude and care of the skin.
“Any woman can look her best if she feels good in her skin. It’s not a question of clothes or makeup. It’s how she sparkles,” she says.
And what beauty secrets does the famed Italian star use to maintain her own youthful appearance?
“A lot of rest. Good thoughts. Exercise,” Loren advises.
She says she usually hits the sack every night at 8 p.m. and rises and shines at 5 a.m.
She washes her hair with a gentle baby shampoo, and colors it when the gray creeps in.
Recently, she’s tested out a few blond streaks because “every teen-ager does that.”
Loren – who lives in a posh, five-bedroom home in Geneva and on a 40-acre ranch in southern California – says she never worries about aging.
“Why should I?” she asks.
But she fumes that age discrimination is still a big problem in Hollywood, and “I don’t think it will ever be solved.”
Loren is best known for her Oscar-winning role in “Two Women” (1961). Her most recent big Hollywood movie was “Grumpier Old Men” (1995), with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
She’s got nothing but affection for younger actresses, saying Julia Roberts has “a beautiful laugh,” Demi Moore “dares, and I like a person who dares,” and Gwyneth Paltrow is “very tender.”
“But nowadays, girls don’t need any advice. They all look so very sure of themselves,” she says.
For the immediate future, Loren says she’s pestering her two unwed sons to get busy with families and give her some grandkids.
“I want to be a grandmother,” she confesses. “Oh, yes – but I want to be the sexiest grandmother in the world.”
