Both the Mets and Yankees pulled in big ratings on Monday’s opening day.

The Mets averaged 213,000 households on Fox Sports New York – the team’s highest-rated opening day on either FSNY or its predecessor, SportsChannel.

And the World Champion Yankees averaged a solid 7.1 (483,000 households, excluding rain delays) in their Ch.5 debut.

Hale storm

Connie Chung corners retired Gen. David Hale for an exclusive interview on tonight’s ”20/20” (10 p.m. on Ch.7).

Hale became the highest-ranking official in nearly 50 years to be courmartialed for adulterous conduct. Hale pleaded guilty to having ”improper relationships” with four of his subordinates’ wives.

Newsweek’s Michael Isikoff tells Stone Phillips on tonight’s ”Dateline” (8 p.m. on Ch.4) that President Clinton is ”far more psychologically disturbed than the public ever imagined.”
