Coming off their 2-2 Meadowlands draw with the Red Wings on Monday, the Devils will face a second consecutive challenge to their ability to handle an up-tempo, speed-driven, transition team when they face the Hurricanes in Carolina tonight.
It will mark the first of a brief two-game swing for the Devils, who travel to St. Louis for a match tomorrow.
Kevin Dean, the 29-year-old defenseman who was hospitalized on Monday night with irregular heartbeat, was scheduled to be released from St. Barnabus Medical Center in Livingston last night after undergoing a series of tests. According to Devils spokesmen, doctors found nothing alarming with Dean’s condition.
Dean will not join the team in Greensboro. He is doubtful for St. Louis.
