Like any good party, the morning after New Year’s Eve required a massive cleanup in the city – and the streets should be clear just in time for the first brutal storm of 1999.
A small army of Sanitation workers hit the streets yesterday to whisk away mountains of confetti, moisemakers and cups left by revelers.
“We estimate around 30 tons,” Paula Young, a spokesperson for the Sanitation Department, said of the massive debris.
“We have 21 manual brooms, 10 mechanical brooms and six mini-motorized litter patrols to clean up the streets,” she said.
