Depending on the degree of fat to be removed and the specific body areas targeted, Dr. Rowe may use tumescent liposuction, the super-wet technique, as well as ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL) and power assisted liposuction (PAL) in an attempt to minimize swelling. He will also advise you about whether general or local anesthesia is needed. During liposuction, Dr. Rowe uses a cannula wand to gently disrupt and suction fat cells under the skin. Patients under local anesthesia often report a tingling or vibrating sensation and may feel mild pressure as Dr. Rowe contours the body. For some patients, more significant fat removal can be achieved through a series of liposuction procedures performed under general anesthesia.
Depending on the type of anesthesia used, you may be able to return to your daily activities immediately or you may be advised to rest at home during recovery. If you choose, Dr. Rowe and his staff can recommend local hotels and private nursing care to assist you during this time. Strenuous activity should be avoided for about a month after liposuction, though you are encouraged to walk as comfortable to promote healing.

For up to three months after liposuction you will continue to see improvement as your body heals and swelling subsides.
