🌊A look back at a very successful and engaging #seanergy2024 conference last week in Nantes, France ☀️ In addition to an in-depth immersion into the French offshore wind market, we got to visit EDF Renouvelables eoliennes en mer Saint-Nazaire and the SEM-REV, Fondation OPEN-C test site for an insightful technical tour where we had the chance to see BW Ideol's 2MW turbine up close. A special thank you to Mathieu Roualdes, Thomas Soulard and Nathalie Tertre for the visit. 👏 Many thanks to our partners, AKROCEAN and Maxime BELLORGE for featuring us on the exhibition stand. 🙌 It was a pleasure to spend time with so many great colleagues across the industry and discuss all projects, current and future. #seanergy2024 #renewableenergy #offshorewind #artificalintelligence #éolienoffshore #maritime #biodiversity #floatingoffshorewind

This week's "Bird is the word" is another one of Europe's most colourful birds - the European Bee-eater (Merops apiaster) 🔎 The European Bee-eater is the most widespread of the 31 species of bee-eaters across the Eastern Hemisphere. Its distribution extends across central and southern Europe, western Asia and south to South Africa. 🌎 Their diet consists of insects, and to date, hundreds of different insect species have been identified as prey items, with their favourite groups, including bees, wasps, bumblebees and dragonflies. They forage almost exclusively on airborne insects that they catch with their bill while on the wing in open landscapes. 🐝 🦟 European Bee-eaters nest once a year, and pairs usually stay together for life. They nest in vertical sand banks, digging a burrow where the eggs are laid. They often form small or bigger colonies. 📸 Today's photo shows a presumed pair taking a break from hunting insects one evening in a steppe area in Hungary. #EuropeanBeeEater #ColourfulBirds #BirdWatching

Thank you ClimateHack and honored to be featured on this list! 🙌
20 startups and NGOs using AI to restore nature 🌳 “the biodiversity crisis doesn’t receive anywhere near the level of attention as climate,” points out environmentalist Siddarth Shrikanth Slowly but surely, technologies and markets are coalescing to put nature high up on the agenda, with big implications for the natural world. The economic case for nature is heavily reliant on carbon credits, with voluntary carbon markets projected to grow significantly by 2030. However, proving the effectiveness of carbon removal projects like tree planting and soil sequestration is challenging, leading to increased scrutiny and investment in MRV solutions. MRV is now one of the hottest areas of carbon tech, with startups devising ways to measure — and prove the value — of “ecosystem services” through AI, bioacoustic monitoring, satellite imaging, and remote sensing And these companies are making it happen: AgriSound Albedo Albo Climate apic.ai biometrio.earth BioPhonia Carbon Rewild Chloris Geospatial Conservation AI Earth Blox Gentian Meteory Pivotal Future Rainforest Connection (RFCx) Spoor Stream Ocean Synature TransparenC Wilder Sensing Wildlife Acoustics, Inc. 👉 In this week’s “Bird is the word” we meet a beautiful bird known for its nice colorful plumage and aerial acrobatics - the European Roller (Coracias garrulus) 🔎 🌍 The European Roller can be found across parts of Europe, Asia and Africa and habits open landscapes with scattering trees or artificial nest boxes for nesting. They are migratory and spend the winter in sub-Saharan Africa. 🐛 They mainly feed on insects like grasshoppers, beetles and occasionally small reptiles, as such making a positive impact on controlling pest populations, making them a farmer's best friend. Often seen sitting on high vantage points like the top a tree or bush, on power lines or on fence posts where they can scan for prey which often captured in the air or on the ground. 👐 Another cool thing these birds are known for is their courtship ritual, where males perform impressive aerial displays, looping and diving as if on a roller coaster, to impress potential mates. 📸 Today's photo is from the bird rich steppe area just south of Budapest Hungary, where several European Rollers can be observed, and this one was enjoying the afternoon sun nicely perched on a bush.
