2023 has been a prosperous year for Sanco. We have had zero incidents or accidents and a combined utilization of 97%. For the first time in years, we have secured firm contracts of 18-24 months at reasonable rates. 2024 is also looking good with a 70% coverage so far. Although many will argue that the seismic industry is a sunset industry, it is not that easy. The overall capacity is dramatically reduced from 65 active vessels 10 years ago to approx. 25 today. And while the seismic vessels then primarily searched for hydrocarbons, their scope today also include windfarm seabed surveys, CCS mapping and soon seabed minerals will be targeted. I do not see any seismic vessels being built anytime soon either. The current rates and contract durations can still not support the cost of a newbuild. Hence the supply side is limited and with a sound demand side, including the increasing OBN market, I am optimistic to our vessel’s opportunities in an ever greener future. A big thank you to the entire Sanco team for your commitment and hard work through the year. And to our customers for your trust in us!
