Today, Opera requested that the EU General Court annul the European Commission’s decision not to designate Microsoft Edge as a gatekeeper under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). We would like the progress of the DMA made on smartphones to be extended to PCs and for a browser ballot screen to be introduced, making sure everybody gets to easily choose their default browser on their PC. Due to its absolute scale, number of business users and end users, and privileged position on Windows, we believe Edge requires the designation of ‘gatekeeper’ to ensure fair competition and user choice for all. We just launched an update to Opera for Android, and we’re super excited about it! Now, Android users can create high-quality AI images within Aria! 🎨 but that’s not all, we have also made it super easy for users to set any of their creations as their default browser wallpaper by long pressing the image and choosing “set wallpaper”! Additionally, we are rolling out a new cutting edge feature which will use AI to provide daily roundups and audio-highlights in the NewsFeed! (Rollout beginning exclusively in the US).
