Responsibilities

Our client is a well-respected independent research organisation in the area of cleantech and sustainable development. Their mission is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. They are working on global projects to promote the transition to sustainability, create innovative technological solutions and actively share their knowledge with businesses and government bodies.Research leader responsibilitiesBased on trend analyses and good scientific insight, you will pose the right research questions in terms of energy that are needed to help take the industry forward in the future.The Energy Technology unit’s multi-disciplinary research program will be drawn up and managed on the basis of these research questions, in close collaboration with the domain managers who manage the various knowledge domains in the unit, and activity leaders responsible for developing the product roadmaps.You will be responsible for the international excellence of the various domains. Part of this will involve ensuring that the better PhD and post-doctoral students find their way to the unit, as well as achieving the necessary SCIs with a sufficiently high impact factor.You will manage the relationships with the universities and other research institutions and attempt to cluster across the domains.You will build up a strong international scientific network that can also be used to set up the right consortia as part of co-financed projects.You will disseminate the research program’s vision internationally and will be the Energy Technology BU “thought leader”.Research leader tasksTo develop a vision and define/discuss research questions based on a thorough and state-of-the-art overviewTo produce a widespread research program, in consultation with activity leaders and domain managersTo consult with the management team to turn the research program into a strategic planTo optimise scientific excellence in the domains and draw up / manage a strategic plan for thisTo seek out / define cross-links and adopt these in the research program at various different levels:

Required Competences & Skills

You have obtained a doctorate in applied sciences.You have a minimum of 10 years experience in the energy domain relating to both electrical and thermal energy.You have a minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience in managing multi-disciplinary research programs.You have wide experience of coordinating scientific consortia.You can demonstrate an international and academic curriculum.You have experience in applied technological development.You are creative and flexible, possessing excellent networking competenciesYou are not fazed by regular professional international journeys.You can express yourself fluently in English (verbal and written).
