    The IST is a dealer sales tool that configures a complex rigid vehicle as easily as a tractor including service offerings for Repair & Maintenance (R&M), financing or operational lease.
    The IST processes customer responses through a rules engine and the application proposes vehicles appropriate for the customer avoiding expensive over specification. In order to define the optimal vehicle specification business driven questions are asked such as on or off highway use of the vehicle, size and weight of the cargo, transport distance, number of stops and typical road conditions. IST is a web based sales and ordering application integrated with current R&M, finance and lease applications. The application is developed in .Net with a SQL Server database. The application is data driven, hosted on Azure and securely accessed through DAF’s ePortal. The application connects to an on-premise Microsoft CRM environment containing customer, dealer and vehicle data. IST transforms the complex sales and engineering process into a straight forward front office business function by using business logic, engineering rules and variant controls.

The tool is integrated with PACCARs engineering and manufacturing systems that provide chassis-specific vehicle data and software. Information from the vehicle is uploaded to a central repository, where its captured and aggregated. By analyzing this data, PACCAR can enhance its products and improve its performance. Technicians can use the tool to more quickly program engines and vehicles, increasing factory productivity. A technician can also take the tool in his service truck and provide roadside assistance in remote locations where internet connectivity is unavailable. The tool is used in PACCARs 10 factories and at its 1900 dealerships worldwide.
    DAVIE4 was also awarded with a 2014 PACCAR Chairman's Award for Engineering Excellence.
