Fascinating fact! The vast distance from the Earth to the Moon is an out of this world measure of the length of drinking and wastewater pipes in Europe. Placed end-to-end, European drinking water pipe networks are 4 225 527 km long, which is ELEVEN TIMES the distance from the Earth to the Moon. And, calculations by the EurEau organisation reveal that the European sewer network covers three million km, which is EIGHT TIMES the distance from the Earth to the Moon. Who knew pipes could be so fascinating? Share this revelation!

We are pleased to share that Harald Brynlund-Lima (Senior Advisor Urban Climate Resilience Norway) and Oleksandra Furman (Digitalization & Sustainability Manager Norway) had the opportunity to present at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences this week. They delivered a lecture on smart solutions in the water sector, with a focus on data analysis and applications in blue-green roofs. The lecture was part of a summer school hosted by the university as part of the EU-funded WATERLINE project. This initiative aims to enhance research and educational skills at all career stages, providing tools and knowledge for innovations in water sector digitalization. We discussed data from blue-green roof systems, such as the Wavin PolderRoof, highlighting their key advantages: • Rainwater collection to prevent sewer overflows and irrigate green roofs • Intelligent water distribution across roofs based on plant needs • Remote monitoring and control for improved productivity and service At Wavin (part of Orbia), our goal is to contribute to climate-resilient cities through innovative water management solutions. We're working towards water circularity in buildings, neighborhoods, and cities by capturing, cleaning, and reusing rainwater. It was a rewarding experience to share our insights with the next generation of water management professionals. If you're interested in learning more about urban climate resilience solutions, please reach out to your local Wavin representative. We want to thank the NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences for inviting us and giving us this wonderful opportunity! #WaterManagement #UrbanResilience #Sustainability

🌧️💧 Transforming Lives with Sustainable Water Solutions 🌧️💧 In many parts of the world, the quest for clean water, sanitation, and hygiene is ongoing. Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin), in partnership with FUNCAGUA (Water Fund), has taken a step forward in Guatemala. We’ve introduced and installed our Wavin AquaCell system to a rural school, enabling the capture and storage of rainwater. Previously, the school’s water supply was sporadic, often disrupted for up to four days during droughts. The limited water availability hindered essential hygiene practices, affecting both students and staff. With Wavin AquaCell, we’ve changed that narrative. Through this volunteering project, the school now boasts a 10,000-liter water reserve, ensuring a consistent supply. This upgrade supports over 200 young minds in preschool and primary education, empowering them with the means for proper handwashing, clean facilities, and a healthier learning environment. This shows how sustainable WASH solutions can transform lives. Have a look at the video showing you all the details of this fantastic project. #SustainabilitybyDoing #WASH #Education Amanco Wavin Centroamérica

Time is our biggest challenge! We are proud of our Orbia B&I (Wavin) colleagues from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany who cycled over 2600 km (together, in one day!) along the 'future coastline' of the Netherlands in a call for climate action: the 2024 Climate Classic. 🌊🚴🏼 Cycling 4 Climate Sea levels are rising at an unprecedented rate. This century, there is a risk of a 2.5m rise, and we must prevent that at all costs. Therefore, more than 2000 riders in total joined the Climate Classic to call attention to rising sea levels. Riders were challenged to raise money for Wetlands International. Our Orbia B&I colleagues raised €1400 for this great cause, which is committed to the protection and restoration of wetlands. In addition, all participants made their own climate promise, as we all have a hidden impact on the planet. Feeling inspired? Share your climate promise in the comments! 👇🏻 A big thank you to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and local communities for their support. 🌍💙 #Orbia #ClimateClassic #ClimateAction #WherePurposeComesToLife
