🌍 Celebrate Earth Day As we celebrate Earth Day, the crucial role of forests and the importance of sustainable practices that help preserve these ecosystems become ever more vital. 🌲 The Importance of Forests: Forests are crucial carbon sinks, absorbing about 2.6 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide each year. To put that in perspective, this is more than the annual CO2 emissions of all the cars in the United States and Europe combined. Covering 31% of the planet's land area, forests sustain most of the terrestrial biodiversity and are vital in regulating global temperatures and weather patterns. 🌱 Sustainability of Timber: When compared to non-renewable materials like concrete, plastic, or steel, timber emerges as a remarkably sustainable choice. Producing timber generates approximately 1/6th the CO2 emissions of concrete and 1/4th those of steel. ♻ Sustainable Forests: Managing forests sustainably means integrating reforestation efforts where around 5 to 20 new trees are planted for each one cut down, depending on the forest type and size of the harvested tree. Sustainable forests not only support the global wood supply but also strengthen community resilience by providing jobs to over 13 million people worldwide and indirectly supporting another 41 million jobs. Our second offsite in Athens, Greece was an incredible experience that brought together 17 of our amazing employees from all corners of the globe. 🌲 🌍 This experience was more than just a meeting; it was a unique blend of culture, learning, entertainment and team building. We explored the beauty of Athens while strengthening our bonds as a global team. The offsite featured a wide range of activities: Woodcraft - Our team got hands-on with timber and explored their creative sides Workshops and insightful client visits - The team engaged in enriching discussions that shape Timberhub's future Cooking classes - Whipping up dishes that the team could then later enjoy But that's not all! We also experienced the vibrant nightlife of Athens. From traditional greek tavernas to trendy bars, we danced the night away creating unforgettable memories.
