We, as BouT, are thankful to Daiwa House Modular Europe for providing an engaging workshop at their experience center and modular factory. The workshop combined with the tour helped the students gain experience for their group work of the MEGA course at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, TU Delft while also gaining an insight into how large-scale projects are done within the industry. The main lesson learnt was the opportunities and challenges standardization brings to a project while seeing the advantages of early decision making which prevents higher cost by customization. During the assignment, computational optimization and creating more customization with minimal changes and different production techniques were explored. This aided the students to incorporate a similar design process for their large-scale MEGA project. Looking forward for more collaboration, innovation and future knowledge-exchange together!
