Over ons
The Postcode Lottery Group is an international company with a social purpose, bringing together business and ideals. It initiates and operates Postcode Lotteries with a mission to contribute to a fairer, healthier, greener world by supporting charities and initiatives, from smaller local projects to international organisations. Today, a community of 14 million people across five European countries enjoy playing for attractive and exciting prizes like the weekly street-prize. Using their postal codes (zip code) as ticket numbers, neighbours win together in monthly draws, currently with a minimum of 30% percent of the ticket price going to charity. Our subscription based lotteries are a safe game of chance. We create fun and special celebrations for our players and winners, all while raising money for a better world. The Postcode Lottery Group has become the 3rd largest private donor in the world, after the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Wellcome Trust (2021). A total of over €12.6 billion has been donated to charities so far. Every day of the year, we raise €2.3 million for charities (total revenue in 2022 of all the Postcode Lotteries: €2,4 billion). We are empowering change-makers by providing flexible, unrestricted long-term funding to our charity and cultural partners. It allows them to address those needs they feel are most relevant and urgent. Postcode Lottery Group is a private company, fully owned by a non-profit foundation. Our team of 1500 colleagues work across Europe in our welcoming offices in Amsterdam, London, Edinburgh, Stockholm, Dusseldorf and Oslo, and are joining forces every day to develop the Postcode Lottery’s magic.

What is a postcode? Often seen as nothing more than an address marker on envelopes, these combinations of numbers and letters hold a lot of power once turned into lottery tickets. They have the power to transform lives, neighbourhoods, and communities, both near and far. At the Postcode Lottery we turn every home's postcode into a ticket for good. This is, what we call, 'the Power of Postcodes'.

How have you been spending International Women’s Day? It was my pleasure to join the Women’s Voices event at Google’s Academy London. It was organised by Media Trust and supported by People's Postcode Lottery. At the international Postcode Lottery Group, we’ve always supported charities working to protect the rights of women and girls. We also offer career opportunities in five countries (and counting!) to talented individuals working in the marketing, media, and creative sectors — among many others. The Women’s Voices event brought volunteers from those sectors, including our own team members, together with charities to brainstorm ideas and deliver solutions. Truly inspiring! #WomensVoices24 #IWD2024 #GreatJobsBetterWorld

We are excited to announce a significant step forward in line with our Acceleration Strategy. Our executive board member Imme Rog will be based in our London office for the next two years, joined by her invaluable assistant Xandra van der Meer. This strategic move is pivotal in our efforts to emphasise the importance of our international operations, to further expand internationally and enhance our business network. London is a strategic stepping stone due to its status as a global centre for commerce particularly in marketing and advertising. This move aligns with our growth strategy and allows us to tap into the vast talent pool available in this international city. Postcode Lottery Group executive board member, Imme says: “Already, we've hit the ground running with a collaboration with a prominent international marketing agency based in London. They are working closely with us at a group level as well as with the People’s Postcode Lottery in Great Britain, conducting trials in the British market before expanding to other countries.” Postcode Lottery Group CEO Sigrid van Aken, adds: “This relocation reflects our dedication to continuous improvement and strengthening of our international presence. This is quite a unique development, and we are grateful to Imme for taking this significant step which will benefit the whole group. We're excited about the opportunities this move brings and are confident it will contribute to our ongoing success.” Michiel Verboven #postcodelotteries #postcodelotterygroup

Taking good care of our winners is as important as handing over big cheques and prizes. That’s where and when the winner liaison officer comes in. Bea Post (photo) was our first winner liaison officer, since the very first beginning of the Nationale Postcode Loterij in the Netherlands, 33 years ago. Starting this year, following Bea's retirement, Roel Eleveld has taken on her role. He says: 'Winners are our most genuine and vital ambassadors, so ensuring they feel acknowledged, heard, and content at our lotteries is a crucial responsibility'. #greatjobsbetterworld #postcodelotteries #postcodelotterygroup

Last week, social entrepreneurs from around the world gathered at the SEWF - Social Enterprise World Forum C.I.C. to share ideas and network. The Postcode Lottery Group was a key partner of SEWF23, and Stichting DOEN also played a major role. The DOEN Foundation was set up by the Nationale Postcode Loterij to support small, innovative, sustainable initiatives. In the upcoming years, DOEN aims to make social entrepreneurship the new standard. To enable social enterprises to bring about systemic change, they require flexible, long-term, and unrestricted funding. This is the core of our funding philosophy.
