🍅What is pH and why it is important to monitor in root zone management? 🧪pH is a measure of how acidic or alkaline the nutrient solution is, and it will determine the availability of elements. 📊A balanced uptake of each of the nutrient elements is only possible if the pH in the root zone is within the range 5.5 to 6.5. If pH levels fluctuate too much, it can affect the availability of elements in the root zone, possibly leading to deficiencies and poor plant health. Therefore, pH value must be monitored closely. 🔎Learn more about pH and all things root zone management: https://brnw.ch/21wLicm #pH #rootzone #rootzonemanagement #cea #designedtogrow #grodan

✏️The importance of nutrient availability in root zone management. 🥼Different types of plants require a different mix of essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, zinc, and magnesium. Growers provide these nutrients to the plant in the root zone as a water-based nutrient solution (or ‘fertiliser’) based on the needs of the crop. The EC of the nutrient solution determines how much of the nutrients are available to the plants. ⚖️ One of the benefits of using Grodan stone wool substrates is that the nutrient composition is under the total control of growers. How and why? ✔️During the stone wool production process, the fibres are coated with a hydrophilic binder, which helps to spread the water and nutrients evenly throughout. ✔️The fibres have no cation exchange capacity so they do not lock up nutrients. ✔️EC in the slab can be managed using the Grodan GroSens sensors without the need for a grower to ‘chase drain’ within the irrigation strategy. 👓Learn more about controlling nutrients, and everything root zone, here: https://lnkd.in/gBKzMqVS

🚀 Earlier this month, IQ Crops IoT AI (IQ CROPS Ltd), the official partner and distributor of Grodan in Greece and the Balkans, organised a successful seminar in beautiful Crete. The event focused on how the IQ Crops Hydroponics system of accuracy is addressing the challenges faced by Greek growers. 🌿 Grodan's Emmanouela Alexopoulou captivated the audience of about 150 local growers with a presentation on how Grodan is Designed to Grow - anytime and anywhere. Evagelos Drimtzias from IQ Crops IoT AI highlighted the numerous benefits of soilless growing. 🗣️Among the lively discussion topics were key challenges faced by growers such as limited labor, water scarcity, plant diseases, and the need to increase yield, quality, and shelf-life of fruits. We also heard numerous success stories from growers using Grodan. We can't wait to see the continued development and prosperity of the region! 🌱💧✨ #Hydroponics #Grodan # IQCropsIoTAI #AgricultureInnovation #GreekGrowers #SustainableFarming #CreteSeminar #CEA #DesignedToGrow #Grodan Anna Woronowicz
