All three of our Masters contribute to the energy transition; all in their own field of expertise by using applied research, consultancy work or providing strategy and policy advice. ⚡Energy for Society The Energy for Society master program educates bachelor graduates from various disciplines to become energy transition professionals who help communities, municipalities, governments and companies with the necessary energy transition. ⚡European Master in Renewable Energy In this program students learn to design and implement new technologies in the Renewable Energy. 🛠 ⚡European Master in Sustainable Energy System Management Sustainable Energy System Management teaches students the business side of the (implementation of) energy systems. If you are interested in learning how to design an innovative business case for complex energy projects, then the European Master in Sustainable Energy System Management is for you. ⚡End of academic year EMRE-SESyM”⚡ The academic year 2023-2024 has ended for our staff and students of the #Eurecmasters EMRE en SESyM. 😊 In the first semester, the students learned the fundamentals of their programs regarding renewable energy, from, for example, the basics of modelling energy markets 📈 to the understanding of bioenergy ⚗ or solar energy ☀️. In the second semester, the student delved deeper into the material in their chosen specialisations, for example, at Hanze the Sustainable Fuel Systems or System Innovation Management. Aside from the usual lectures, the students also participated in insightful excursions to, for example, TNO 🧪, RWE🏭, or WarmteStad♨️. ⚡End of academic year Master Energy For Society”⚡ The academic year 2023-2024 has ended for our staff and students of the Master Energy For Society. 😊 In the first semester, the students gained insights into the different aspects of the energy transition from technological ⚒️ & economic💶 to social🏘️ and political aspects🏛️. In the second semester, the students applied these insights to real-life projects with local partners to answer their complex questions. Aside from the usual lectures, the students also participated in insightful excursions to, for example, Brussels, RWE🏭, or WarmteStad♨️. Additionally, our students participated in blended intensive programs (BIPS) in Sweden, Austria, and Germany. Thesis are being nominated based on their grade (8.0 or higher) and the theme of the New Energy Forum. This year, the theme was entrepreneurship, daring, and pioneering. Ook op het New Energy Forum, de uitreiking van de ENTRANCE - Centre of Expertise Energy Student Awards! Alle studenten van de European master in Renewable Energy, European Master in Sustainable Energy Systems Management en de Master Energy for Society komen in aanmerking als ze een 8 of hoger hebben gehaald. Namens de ENTRANCE Student Award beoordelingscommissie heeft Saskia Lieffering de prijs van 2024 uitgereikt aan: 1. Valeria Santos Cilento 2. Nikolaus Geusau 3. Thibo Destatsbader Alledrie voor hun baanbrekende en betekenisvolle afstudeeronderzoek. Valeria heeft een nieuwe combinatie wind en waterstof in samenhang gebracht en balancerend geïntegreerd in het energiesysteem. Nikolaus kiest voor een hybride wind-zon oplossing om tot stabielere productie te komen en zet dat om naar een economisch haalbare oplossing voor duurzame opwek. Dat helpt bedrijven om economisch haalbare duurzaamheid te realiseren. Thibo hanteert een nieuwe manier van onderzoeken door machinelearning toe te passen in monetaire en emmissiegerichte kostenfuncties die gebruikt worden voor beleidsbesluiten over opwekinstallaties voor duurzame energie. Die kunnen daarmee goedkoper en meer CO2 reducerend worden aangeschaft.

During New Energy Forum, students received their well-deserved energy certificates for participating in 10 Energy learning activities and taking part in energy-related education in their programs. ⚡Excursion TNO Petten⚡ Last Friday, the SFS specialization students of the EMRE master program were on an excursion at the TNO facility in Petten, at the invitation of Mariusz Cieplik. During the excursion, the students received a lab tour of the Bio-Based and Circular Technologies labs where they do research with gasification, biofuels, combustion, etc. ⚗️🧫 Also, the students received a lab tour of Sustainable Technologies for Industrial Processes where they worked with various technologies to look at how industries could become more sustainable by using heat. ♨️ The students found it very insightful to see these installations in person and receive additional insights into these processes and how these installations worked. 😁 #eurecmasters #HanzeEnergyMasters #energietransitie #EMRE #TNO EUREC - The Association of European Renewable Energy Research Centres

⚡ SESyM Excursion Ameland ⚡ On Monday the 27th of May, #SESyM went on an excursion to visit their case area on Ameland🏝️ 🏘 . On the Island, the students received a presentation from Tiggelen van, Luc and Erwin de Boer of the Gemeente Ameland. 🏛 Additionally, they visited multiple sustainable projects in Ameland. This excursion was part of a project within the module “Business Ecosystem Design (BED)” within SESyM from Frank Pierie and Rosa Kappert. Lastly, the project was also part of the Learning Community Ameland from Wim Timmerman.
