Advanced Tower Systems

Advanced Tower Systems (ATS) is a fast-growing business who has developed a new tower concept for large wind turbines as an economically and logistically attractive alternative to steel towers. ATS offers hybrid towers for larger and higher wind turbines with hub heights of up to 135 m, which increases the energy production considerably because of better wind conditions at these heights. The patented hybrid tower combines a precast concrete segmented tower with tubular steel tower sections on top. ATS is a joint venture of the engineering company MECAL, the construction company Hurks Group and the project developer Juwi. ATS offers turnkey projects for the construction of hybrid towers and product licensing along with consultancy. The cost of ATS hybrid towers are comparable to those of other tower concepts. ATS towers turn out to be commercially attractive for large wind turbines, but also for 'smaller' turbines (1.5-2 MW, 75-100m), especially in those countries where the transportation of steel towers is problematic and where the concrete segments can be produced locally instead. The tower concept offers: - Larger hub heights - more energy production - Transport flexibility and short installation time - low cost - Worldwide production by its proven concrete technology - local employment.
