Lethal Force Encounter Occurs in Muscoy When Deputies Serve Arrest Warrant for Child Abuse Suspect

DATE/TIME:  June 18, 2024 / 3:00 p.m.

PC 664/187 – Attempted Murder of a Police Officer

LOCATION:  1900 Block of W. Mallory Street, San Bernardino (Community of Muscoy)

SUSPECT(S): Fredy Castillo Cabrales, 37-years-old, Resident of Muscoy

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: 
On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at about 3:00 p.m., deputies from the Central Station and the Specialized Enforcement Detail attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a residence in the 1900 block of W. Mallory Street, in Muscoy.  When deputies contacted the subject of the arrest warrant, Fredy Castillo Cabrales, he pointed a gun at law enforcement and a lethal force encounter (LFE) occurred.   Cabrales was struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.  

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the LFE investigation.

Cabrales was booked into the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on PC 664/187 – Attempted Murder of a police officer.  Cabrales was also booked on the warrant for charges of child sexual battery and child abuse.  His combined bail is set at $1,300,000.
