Thanks to the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority for selecting Tribapay as one of its 25 innovators in this year’s funding. Payment in Africa is still fragmented, despite how many fintechs we have. People often see fintech as a crowded space, but some things remain unchanged. If you travel within Africa or do business across African countries, you’d see that slotting into the finance system in other African countries is a complete impossibility. Most Africans that go to other African countries still spend cash, because there isn’t a solid digital alternative. Two big problems - currencies are different, but the other one is methods of payment. Some African countries rely on Momo, some rely on bank accounts, some rely on Mpesa etc. African payment is complex. Tribapay is simplifying it.

We’ve implemented a new feature on Tribapay that lets you know that your recipient has gotten the money. We first tested this out on our Nigeria/Ghana transfer feature, but today it now works for all our transfers. People always wonder if the person they sent the money to has definitively gotten the money they sent them and any time we say “Completed” on Tribapay, we’re giving you a 99.9% assurance that it’s in their account. If it’s not or we aren’t sure, we will say “processing”.
