The City of San Diego is looking for your help developing a Citywide Trails Master Plan.

We invite you to apply to help us engage the community in our efforts to plan the future of our open space and urban trail connections.

The Master Plan will guide the provision and enhancement of open space multi-purpose trails that serve pedestrians, hikers, bicyclists, mountain bikers and equestrians, where appropriate, and provide safe and convenient linkages to parks, recreation facilities and open space areas.

Applications are due Aug. 4, and virtual office hours will be held on July 23 and 25 to answer questions. Visit the Citywide Trails Master Plan website for more information and to fill out the application: https://www.sandiego.gov/planning/citywi...

We suggest:

-Collect food scraps in the kitchen pail or a container of your choice, keep the scraps in your freezer or refrigerator and wait to discard the food scraps in your green bin until the morning of collection.
-Keep your green bin in a shaded area until collection day and make sure the lid is closed at all times.
-Sprinkling baking soda in the kitchen pail or green bin to reduce odors.
-Placing your green bin in the designated collection area for weekly collection even if it is not full.
-Cleaning your kitchen pail or kitchen collection container after it is emptied.
-Cleaning your green bin over a landscaped area after it is emptied
-Another option is to hire a private container cleaning service; search “Bin Cleaning Service” on WasteFreeSD.org

Please visit our website https://www.sandiego.gov/environmental-s... for recommendations on ways to prevent odor and avoid pests.
