Special Sendoff for Marc Levine
By Jay Horwitz
Our friend Marc Levine got quite a sendoff today. The funeral parlor in Brooklyn was packed with wall-to-wall people. We sent a bus load of Marc’s employees down for the services. So many fields were represented. There were owners, team presidents, general managers, former players, front office people, co-workers, photographers a plenty, friends and family.
They were there for one purpose and that was to pay their respects to the Mets’ long-time photographer chief who passed away so suddenly last Thursday.
All the folks had one thing in common; at one time or another Marc probably took a photo of each and every one Marc never said no. He had a heart as big as the outfield at Citi Field.
Didn’t want to mention any names, but I have to draw special attention to Michele Marano, who worked for the great Jimmy Plummer 20 years ago. Michele drove 18 hours from her Florida home to say a final goodbye.
That sums up what Marc Levine was all about.
