Oklahoma State announced on Monday that former defensive end Leslie O'Neal will be added to Cowboy Football Ring of Honor.

O'Neal will be inducted inside Boone Pickens Stadium on Sept. 7 when OSU hosts Arkansas. He'll join Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, Bob Fenimore and Terry Miller as members of the Cowboy Football Ring of Honor.

O'Neal played for OSU from 1984-85. The two-time All-American recorded a program-best 34 career sacks and got inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2020.

“It signifies that the people at Oklahoma State — the Jimmy Johnsons,  the Butch Davises, the Dave Wannstedts, the Houston Nutts, the George Walstads — all these people who put time and effort into helping the players develop and when you have players from that group getting an award like this, kudos to them,” O’Neal said in 2021.

O'Neal is one of eight OSU players in the College Football Hall of Fame. He's joined by coach Lynn "Pappy" Waldorf (inducted in 1966), Fenimore (1972), Sanders (2003), Thomas (2008), coach Jimmy Johnson (2012), Miller (2022) and Justin Blackmon (2024).

O'Neal then got selected by San Diego Chargers with the No. 8 overall pick in the 1986 NFL Draft. He recorded 132.5 sacks and 767 tackles throughout 14 seasons in the league, which included time with the St. Louis Rams (1996-97) and the Kansas City Chiefs (1998-99).
