Betty Corene Broadus, 90, stepped into the gates of Heaven on July 3, 2024, in Oklahoma City. The daughter of Elmer and Velma (Stephens) Block, she was born on August 17, 1933, in Gotebo. The family then moved to a farm northeast of Roosevelt. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, where she was elected FFA Queen, in 1951, she began her banking career at First National Bank in Hobart in 1951. She married Bobby Hugh Williams on December 14, 1951. They welcomed two daughters, Gayle Ann and Janet Elaine, and established a home in Oklahoma City before divorcing. Decades later, she still claimed that Bob was the best dancer she had ever known.

Following two brief marriages, she met the love of her life, Jack Broadus, a Hobart native. They married in 1989 and enjoyed a full life together until his death in July 2008.

Betty joined May Avenue Bank (later Union Bank and now Interbank) in 1958, where she enjoyed a successful career before retiring as a vice president in 1996. During her professional career, she was a member of the National Association of Bank Women, serving as president of the Oklahoma chapter. She was a champion bowler on the bank team throughout the 1960s and 70s.

She enjoyed quilting and created numerous quilts that are cherished by family members. In addition she loved playing cards with friends, where her competitive side came to forefront. She always hoped to win that $2.00 prize!

Betty was an exceptional cook who delighted in baking dozens of Christmas cookies to share with friends and family. She was a master at pot roast and Swiss steak!

In 1993, she was appointed to the Tennessee Squire Association, an honor bestowed upon special friends of the Jack Daniel Distillery. As a Squire she became the unrecorded "owner" of Plot No. f84087.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents Elmer and Velma Block, brothers Johnny Max Block and James Dale Block, sister-in-law Elizabeth Block, nephews Richard Max Block and Clinton Dale Block, stepgrandson Justin Lyles, and good friends Roger Brown and Lynn Masters.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Gayle Williams, Oklahoma City, and Janet Williams, Apache; stepdaughters: Molly Reid, Edmond, and Julie Eidson (Lewis), Yukon; sisters-in-law Paula Block, Roosevelt, and Cheryl Gwinn, OKC, OK; nieces and nephew Pam Taylor (J.D.), Roosevelt; Sharon Gee (Rory), Electra, Texas; Darrell Block (Angela), Roosevelt; Karen Johnson (Brent), El Reno; several great nieces and nephews and their families, and best friend of more than 80 years, Lena Rutledge Harris.
