Q: How can I get the Sky News applications?

A: Download it directly through your iOS device by pressing the blue "App Store" icon. Then hit the Search tab and type "Sky News".

The Sky News app will appear in the search results of the App Store. Press the Sky News icon and then, when the next page loads, tap the "GET" icon.

You'll get a prompt to "INSTALL" - when it does, tap it. You will be asked to provide the password for your iTunes account. Enter it and, once you have, the Sky News application will download automatically.

You can download the Sky News app via Sky News iTunes App Store and follow the instructions, or search for "Sky News" within the iTunes store.

To get the Android App, download it directly to your device, go to the Google Play store and search for Sky News.

You'll have the option to "Install" and once downloaded you'll see an option to "Open", tap this and the app will open

Once it has downloaded, simply tap the Sky News icon on your iOS & Android home screen and the application will load.

Q: How do I uninstall the Sky News application?

A: Press and hold the Sky News icon on your iOS device for two seconds until it wiggles. Then tap the cross icon in the top left of the icon and it will uninstall. On your Android device, go to Settings, then to Applications, then to Manage Applications and delete it from there.

Q: How do I update the application?

A: If you already have the app installed, simply go to the store on your iOS or Android handset and look for updates. You will see the update, which you can simply install from there. If you do not already have the app, simply install it as above.

Q: How do I use the application?

A: The app is straightforward to use:

On the home page:

  1. Tap a story to read it.
  2. Press and drag the list of headlines up and down to scroll through them.
  3. Press and drag the list of news categories from left to right to scroll through them or swipe the screen to move between categories.
  4. Tap a different news category to access it.

Within a story:

  1. Press and drag up to move down the story text.
  2. If the main picture has a play icon, click it to view a video about the story.
  3. If there is a content module in the story, touch it to view.
  4. If text is highlighted and underlined, click it to access the hyperlink to get more in-depth coverage.

To watch live video

  1. Tap the Live tab.
  2. When you have finished watching, tap on a different section to leave.

Q: How do I get the app to read the news aloud to me (Android only)?

A: In order to get the app to read the news aloud, you will have to go through your device's accessibility settings and turn talkback on. These are usually found within the settings menu, under accessibility. After turning this on, the device will read everything however, not just the news.
