Officials say a fireworks device was lit inside the forest and ignited the fire late Thursday. The Apple Pie Hill Fire Tower discovered the fire at 9 a.m. Friday.

3ds agoNew Jersey Forest Fire Service officials said Sunday that fireworks caused the Tea Time Hill wildfire in Wharton State Forest near the Batona Campground and Apple Pie Hill.
Officials said the fire that had burned 4,000 acres was 75% contained as of 3 p.m. Sunday.
No homeowners have been asked to evacuated and no structures are threaten by the fire.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service led the investigation in collaboration with the New Jersey State Park Police, the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety and the Burlington County Fire Marshal's Office.
