Report: Nets sign undrafted free-agent Villanova guard Mark Armstrong

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

The Brooklyn Nets did not make a selection in the 2024 NBA Draft because of the James Harden trade that happened years ago that cost them their own picks for this year. Even though Brooklyn ultimately ended up not taking part in the draft festivities, they still managed to add players after the Draft was over.

Per Jake Weingarten of Stockristers.com on Thursday, the Nets have signed Villanova guard Mark Armstrong to a summer contract so he will be playing for Brooklyn’s summer league team. After the Draft ended on Thursday, the Nets also signed Emmanuel University guard KJ Jones II to an Exhibit 10 deal after he went undrafted as well.

Armstrong, listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, had a pre-draft workout with Brooklyn so the two sides were already familiar with each other. Like Jones, Armstrong will be competing in summer league for the chance to get an invite to training camp and hope that he can make the team from there and get some minutes on a rebuilding Nets team.

Armstrong played two seasons for the Villanova Wildcats and in his sophomore season, he averaged 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 41.7% from the field and 28.2% from three-point range. Armstrong should be an exciting player to watch as he brings a different level of athleticism to the point guard position and should be making some highlight players in Las Vegas.
