    Batang Ai HEP Bubble Run 2024 Over 400 runners participated in Sarawak Energy's Batang Ai HEP Bubble Run 2024 this morning, part of the two-day Batang Ai Hydro Day 2024 event. Bubble stations along the scenic route by the Batang Ai HEP reservoir transformed the run into a festive and playful adventure. Ir. Bunyak Lunyong, CEO of SEB Power, flagged off the race, emphasising in his speech that Sarawak Energy was commited to promoting a healthy lifestyle, together with communities it was a part of. Congratulations to all winners and thank you to all participants for making the event a success. The Hydro Day 2024 festivities continue tomorrow with music and dance performances, traditional games, local food stalls, and exciting lucky draws.     Advancing National and Regional Energy Transition through Hydropower Development Sarawak Energy recently participated in a discussion with Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Dato Seri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, the International Hydropower Association (IHA), and the Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) at the Malaysia High Commission in London on 26 June. The discussion focused on Malaysia’s sustainable energy goals and regional collaboration to accelerate hydropower development towards achieving the nation’s net zero target by 2050. Group CEO Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili represented Sarawak Energy and shared insights on renewable hydropower's role in powering Sarawak’s sustainable growth.     Sarawak Energy at 'Sembcorp Energy Insights 2024' forum in Singapore On 3 July, Sarawak Energy joined industry leaders at Sembcorp Industries’ inaugural Energy Insights 2024 forum in Singapore. Alvin Lim, Chief Operating Officer of Sarawak Energy Resources and Singapore Interconnection Project lead, shared insights into our renewable hydropower initiatives and future plans for energy connectivity at a panel session. The panel, titled 'Enhancing Regional Power Connectivity' and moderated by Andre Oei from Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, covered topics such as regulatory support, multilateral cooperation, and project financing. Other panellists were Ang Wee Seng, Executive Director of the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association, and Lim Wee Seng, Group Head of Energy, Renewables & Infrastructure, Project Finance, Sustainability and Strategic Advisory at DBS Bank. Our delegation at the forum included Peing Tajang, Vice President for Corporate Shared Services, James Sim, Manager (Project Management & Governance) of the Singapore Interconnection, and Aaron Khin, Manager (International Business) in Business Development. #PowertoGrow

    Batang Ai HEP’s Gawai Dayak 2024 Celebration Event at Lubok Antu On 22 June, the Batang Ai Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) hosted a Ngiling Tikai event at the Lubok Antu Sports Complex, marking the end of this year's Gawai Dayak festivities with the theme "Ngiling Tikai - Nyungkak Pemansang, Ngemeran Adat, Nguan Penyerakup'' ("Rolling of the Mat - Foster Development, Embrace Culture, Sustain Unity"). Over 500 community members from the surrounding Lubok Antu and Batang Ai areas attended, enjoying traditional Iban performances and the Pekit Keling & Kumang Batang Ai 2024 pageant. Among invited guests was YB Datuk Dr. Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Investment and Batang Ai assemblyman, as well as Pemancas, Penghulus, Tuai Rumahs and other community leaders from the surrounding area. At the event, Sarawak Energy also presented financial aid to 10 local schools through its annual revolving RM300,000 Batang Ai Education Fund. Joining from Sarawak Energy were Jonny Wong, Vice President for Hydro; Cheling Sapong, General Manager for Gas, Mohamad Abdullah Ali, General Manager for Coal; and Yap Cho Sen, General Manager for Generation Central Services; representing SEB Power CEO, Ir. Bunyak Lunyong. David Gunda, Batang Ai HEP Station Manager served as the ‘Tuai Gawai’ for this year's celebration. #PowertoGrow

    The 944MW Murum HEP, first commissioned in 2014 is currently Sarawak’s second largest hydroelectric plant after Bakun HEP and represents the second large-scale sustainable energy project (following Batang Ai HEP’s commissioning in 1985) developed by Sarawak Energy on behalf of the Sarawak government. The Murum HEP is a key component of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) initiative and subsequently the Post-COVID19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030), both of which aim to elevate Sarawak to high income status by harnessing its renewable energy resources.     Sarawak Energy Partners with IIUM to Strengthen Talent and Drive Sustainable Energy Innovation Sarawak Energy and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration in areas of mutual interest, with a focus on strengthening the talent pipeline, building student capabilities, and driving significant research in the renewable and sustainable energy sectors. The MoU was signed by Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili, Group Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Energy and Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail, Deputy Rector of Academic and Internationalisation, IIUM, witnessed by George Chapman, Sarawak Energy's Senior Vice President for Legal and Compliance and Prof. Dr. Farid Sufian Shuaib, IIUM's Dean of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws.
