General Manager – Aceros Fortuna

The General Manager - Aceros Fortuna is responsible for overall management of the Mexican distribution business unit, for all eight locations in Mexico. You will direct all business unit functions including sales, manufacturing, finance, planning & logistics, quality & technology, HR, and engineering. The position provides leadership and direction to the management team and all employees to accomplish business objectives, achieve customer satisfaction and create a positive working environment. While leading & developing a strong and effective team, the General Manager is expected to advance the growth and penetration of Aceros Fortuna’s products in new market applications, and within established market segments. With a focus on the company’s goal of providing high-performance material solutions to customers, the GM will maintain the high standards around the company’s established principles of employee safety, transparency & accountability, speed of decision-making, leading with an eye on the needs of customers and promoting a “development culture” in a professional and ethical manner.

Primary Responsibilities For The General Manager – Aceros Fortuna

  • Implement necessary actions of three key strategic initiatives for Mexico/Latin America (Aerospace/Warehousing, Brazil/Argentia growth strategy and Energy/Power Gen Development and monitor performance accordingly.
  • Develop and implement regional strategic timeline.
  • Closely monitor key actions and participate in implementation of key actions required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers. Visit key customers on a regular basis. Understand requirements of key customers.
  • Develop close relationships with agents in Brazil and provide oversight on agent activities.
  • Provide pricing to outside sales team for specific grades.
  • Manage late orders and develop resolutions to expedite the movement of orders.
  • Continually review inventory stocking programs with customers and sales specialists. Adjust replenishment orders as required.
  • Analyze monthly sales and profit performance.
  • Prepare monthly operating summary for distribution to various personnel.
  • Develop annual operating plan with key managers or operating committee.
  • Maintain and monitor cash management banking system. Act as lead administrator on e-banking platform.
  • Weekly monitor nickel exposure. Develop hedge quantities and initiate hedge requests to Reading.
  • Work with finance manager to ensure timely month end closing, accurate financial statements, proper tax filings and annual statutory audits.
  • Work with outside legal firms and ensure proper filings for Carpenter Aceros Fortuna's subsidiaries.
  • Establish and monitor fixed cost budgets.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required For The General Manager – Aceros Fortuna

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferably in a related field.
  • 15+ years of senior management experience in the distribution business. Experience in the tool steel, carbon & alloy markets, or other related industries preferred.
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish. Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak.
  • Project Management: Experience developing long-term strategies and project objectives. Effectively lead organizational-wide projects or initiatives that have significant business impact.
  • Financial Management: Manages resource requirements and business needs.
  • Problem solving experience and proactively identifies and solves complex problems with significant impact on management and direction of the business.
  • Customer Focused and aligns new concepts, technologies, services, or products for the business to address future customer requirements.
  • Experience working with broad guidelines, innovates new concepts, services, technologies, or products that impact the achievement of business results.
  • Experience in general management positions in a fast-moving distribution environment.
  • Experience in distribution management operations outside of the United States.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
