The Butte Miners took care of business on Thursday, picking up a pair of road wins over the Gallatin Valley Outlaws. With Thursday’s victories, the Miners completed the season sweep (4-0) of the Outlaws.
Butte won the first game of the doubleheader, 6-3. Ethan Cunningham tossed 10 strikeouts and allowed five hits in 6.2 innings of work to earn the win. Lucas Harris-Huerta recorded the final out to close out the game.
Cunningham helped himself out at the plate as well, driving in two runs and leading the Miners with a four-hit game. Anthony Knott also had two runs batted in for Butte.
The Miners used a late offensive surge to win the second game of the evening, 10-2. Butte scored five runs in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh to secure the win.
Derek Dunmire earned the victory, pitching five innings and allowing five hits and two runs. Dunmire tossed three strikeouts. Gavin Trudgeon recorded the two-inning save, allowing only one hit.

Quinn Cox led the way offensively for Butte with three hits and three runs batted in. Cunningham, Matthew Donaldson and Zack O’Connell each drove in two runs.
With the sweep, the Miners improved to 14-2 overall and 8-0 in the South A division. They have won five consecutive games.
Butte is scheduled to be back in action on Sunday for a pair of road games against the Dillon Cubs (8-11, 1-3 South A).
