Fireworks complaints
The 4th of July holiday has come and gone, but the fireworks have not.
Several residents called dispatch over the weekend to voice their complaints about the fireworks, all tired of hearing firecrackers, bottle rockets, sparklers, Roman candles and other pyrotechnics being set off.
Physical disturbance
Police were called to the 1900 block of Banks Avenue Saturday to investigate a physical disturbance between Damian A. Talamantes, 47, of Butte and an unidentified woman.
Talamantes was arrested for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury (second offense) and destruction or tampering with a communication device. He reportedly threw the woman’s cell phone so she couldn’t access it.

Eventually arrested
In the 1800 block of Monroe Avenue, an officer was attempting a traffic stop on Saturday, but Logan M. Booth, 22, of Butte did not want to comply.
He was eventually arrested for eluding police and reckless driving.
Primary aggressor
Katie R. Miller, 39, of Butte was arrested Saturday for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury.
Miller was reportedly involved in an altercation with a man on 14th Street where she was allegedly deemed the primary aggressor.
Indecent exposure
On Saturday, a Butte man walked into the U.S. Post Office, 701 Dewey Blvd., dropped his pants and exposed himself.
Ede J. Otness, 48, was taken into custody for indecent exposure.
Suspected meth
While investigating a Saturday disturbance at the Flying J at Rocker, Levi B. Caldwell, 39, of Butte was picked up for criminal possession of dangerous drugs and probation violation.
Caldwell had in his possession a baggie of suspected methamphetamine.
Throwing items
A Belgrade man was arrested Saturday for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury at the Fairmont Hot Springs RV Park.
Matthew K. Ridder, 41, allegedly was throwing items, striking a woman in the face.
Jumped the fence
During the 4th of July parade, employees from Bob Ward’s suspected a man was trying to steal and called police.
Police arrived and Quinlin W. Sawicki, 33, of Butte took off, jumping a fence and crossing the interstate where a Montana High Patrol trooper was able to apprehend him.
Sawicki was jailed for theft and obstructing a peace officer.
Changing clothes
A man and a woman were changing clothes in the 1000 block of Mercury Street last Wednesday. When officers arrived, Darren T. Hayes, 33, of Bigfork had suspected fentanyl in his possession.
Hayes was arrested for criminal possession of dangerous drugs, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing a peace officer
Third offense
Devin L. Major, 33, of Butte reportedly got into a dispute July 3 with a woman on Rocker Road. He allegedly broke a window in the vehicle and took her cell phone from her.
He was arrested for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury (third offense), criminal mischief, and destruction or tampering with a communication device.
Unwanted hug
An unidentified man reportedly gave a woman an unwanted hug on Friday at NorthWestern Energy, 400 Oxford St.
Car kicked
It was discovered late Friday that someone kicked a 2006 Toyota Corolla and punched out the window while it was parked in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue.
Shattered windshield
Sometime early Saturday, someone shattered the windshield of a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee while it was parked at Super 8, 2929 Harrison Ave.
Vehicle theft
An unknown person took off Saturday with a 2009 silver Dodge Journey that was parked at Cheap Cars & Trucks, 3839 Harrison Ave.
Flowers vandalized
Just before 5 a.m. Sunday, a man ripped out all the flowers planted near the corner of Park and Montana and threw them into the street. Thanks to outside cameras, officers were able to identify the man and he was later cited for criminal mischief.
Under investigation
On Sunday afternoon, a man reportedly hit another man with a piece of lumber in the 700 block of Utah Avenue. The case is under investigation.
