Queer youth are "four times more likely to commit suicide than their peers," according to the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention nonprofit compiling research on LGBTQIA+ people.
"Pride is important for creating a celebrating a community and instilling a sense of belonging for LGBTQIA+ youth, young adults and families," said Heidi Doxey, a board member for the Butte Pride Foundation. "Butte has been so fantastic in coming together under this very fabulous rainbow umbrella, outpouring love and support from and for our LGBTQIA+ community and allies."
