#TheMaltaChamber welcomes new member Joseph Azzopardi. Joseph, a warranted Accountant by profession, started his career at Deloitte after successfully reading for a Bachelor of Commerce and subsequently for a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Malta. He has always been an aviation enthusiast and was thrilled when he made the move into the industry in 2014 joining the Financial Control Team at Air Malta. This was followed by experience working within two of Europe’s largest Airlines – first at Lufthansa and later as Head of Finance of the Ryanair Group’s Malta operations. Now he joins KM Malta Airlines as Chief Financial Officer with more than 15 years’ experience. Having worked in a number of sectors within the industry, Joseph has significant knowledge of airline operations, aircraft leasing & valuation, risk management, financial reporting and planning as well as management & strategy. Joseph is keen to collaborate with local businesses within The Malta Chamber and is incredibly eager to continue elevating the local Aviation industry to the fore of international standards of best practice. #TheChamberWelcomes is part of the onboarding process of new members of The Malta Chamber.

A European Union Heads of Missions event was organised by the Hungarian Office in Malta to introduce the Hungarian EU Presidency priorities and to discuss the competitiveness of Malta and the European Union. The visit was hosted by Toly Products. During the visit, Christopher Vassallo Cesareo, The Malta Chamber President, noted that the EU must balance economic security with green and digital transitions for a prosperous economy. “Achieving these goals requires cooperation among government bodies, political institutions, businesses, and civil society. The Malta Chamber has been a frontliner on these matters and rest assured it will remain so,” he said. Addressing attendees, Nick Xuereb, The Malta Chamber Vice President and TOLY CFO, emphasised that Malta’s EU accession positively impacted its business community, enabling ease of operation across various sectors like financial services and gaming. “Malta’s economy has grown faster than most EU states, but as an open economy, it is vulnerable to external shocks. To stay competitive globally, the EU must address several key areas,” he stressed.
