About us
AP Valletta's Vision is to create an Architecture that is a place-maker, a container of meaning, a catalyst for the creation of kinship, a fabricator of myth and a producer of narratives. AP Valletta is the product of the convergence of several tasks which it has been commissioned over the years to undertake and of the orchestration of the multitude of disciplines required to achieve the goals envisioned by the client. Each project tackled, whether architectural, design or planning related, contains a collection of ideas, some tried and tested, others new and unprompted, whose unorthodox overlap and unsettling combination is what brings the product to life. Projects are driven through varying facets of architecture, interior and space, tracing trajectories that are derived from specific areas of research and expertise, be it that of the architect, the engineer, the critic, the educator, the artist, the writer or the anthropologist. Although solutions may seem simple, the origins of each project are complex, articulated and unstable, the only certain conclusion that emerges from this research is the ineffable quality of Architecture. We have the undiminished ambition to evoke, in varying ways, a common sense of architecture as a generator of real life, not only the backdrop to events, big or small, historical or routine. Architecture and design, for us, are more than space, setting, context and form. AP Valletta has 25 years of experience and has continuously been expanding its field of activity. The practice can provide a wide range of services including Architecture Design, Urban Design and Master Planning, Restoration Theory and Practice, Sustainable Architecture, Structural and Civil Engineering services, Interior Design, Strategic Real Estate Consultancy, Graphic Design, Education and Publishing. Our organisational structure is purposely flexible, capable of addressing the specific criteria of any individual project and drawing on the talent and skills of its extended team, consisting of a multi‐national and multi‐disciplinary community of 50 people including Architects & Civil Engineers Architects, Structural Engineers, Interior Designers, Restoration Architects, Valuation Specialists, PA (Planning Authority) liaison, specialists in Contract Administration, Built Environment History & Heritage Management, and Environmental Design as well as a team of administrative and support staff.

#aponsite We have reached an important milestone on our project at the GO Tech Centre: the installation of the Building Integrated Photovoltaic panels. The BIPV panels have now been installed as a brise-soleil on the south-facing facades, shielding the interiors from direct solar exposure while generating clean electricity at the same time. Solar analysis software was used to parametrically map the solar energy that falls on building facades. This led to the creation of a pixelated pattern with the BIPV panels shading areas with the highest solar gains. Voids in between the panels allow light to enter the office in strategic locations creating a delicate balance between the provision of adequate natural light, the reduction of glare and enjoyment of the views. The design’s success is the result of a collab between AP and Malta Properties Company plc, who encouraged the use of smart methods of construction. 🔎Check out the BIPV installation with the timelapse of the work at GO Tech. #apvalletta #maltaproperties #sustainability

#aponsite GO Tech Centre is a complex with five blocks, including two offices buildings, a data centre and a warehouse. The project stands out for the sustainable approach adopted in the design, aiming for greater energy efficiency and a low-carbon footprint, seeking to have a significant impact on the future. Our project represents a practical example of sustainable construction practices, implementing the innovative EU Level(s) indicators on design. The building applies radical parameters to assess environmental performance, addressing greenhouse emissions, resource efficiency, water use, health and comfort, resilience and adaptation, as well as cost and value. The success of the design is the result of a collaboration between AP and Malta Properties Company plc, who encouraged the use of smart methods of construction. This collab led us to create a design that offers a long-lasting solution with environmental responsibility. #approjects #maltaproperties #sustainability

Restoration works on the Pro-Cathedral were started in the Fall of 2016 when first investigations were undertaken. Each step of the seven year-long project has been documented. Extensive restoration work was carried out on the 1846 steeple which had suffered severe structural deterioration and lost important historical elements over the course of its lifespan. The AP Valletta restoration team conducted studies to understand the extent of the damage and determine the necessary repairs with a view to conserving as much of the original features as possible. Today, the tower has been renewed and reconfigured on the basis of the original designs of William Scamp. This marks a major milestone in the iconic St. Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral restoration and ensures the long-term preservation of the building’s authenticity and integrity. #APprojects #valletta #malteseheritage #heritageregeneration

Ma nistgħux nibqgħu nħarsu lejn l-iżvilupp u l-progress fl-ambjent mibni bil-mod li qed nagħmlu llum. Trid tahseb l-affarijiet b’mod kompletament differenti.’’
