Research Funding

Limited evidence, research regulations, and inconclusive research on medical marijuana leave a knowledge gap related to medical marijuana use outcomes. The Consortium supports medical marijuana research at Consortium member institutions through its annual grants program, now in its sixth cycle. The next request for proposals will be released on October 31st, 2024.

The Medical Marijuana and Me Study (M3)

Data Access Available: The Medical Marijuana and Me (M3) Study

The first of its kind in Florida, the Medical Marijuana & Me (M3) study includes a longitudinal cohort of medical marijuana initiators and a cross-sectional sample of current medical marijuana users with the aim of collecting patient-centered data.

MEMORY is a unique interlinked database which includes all registered medical marijuana users in Florida, allowing the investigation of medical marijuana related clinical outcomes and policy research.

Spotlighting Consortium Research

Dr. Yan Wang, Consortium Assistant Director of Clinical Core, who leads a team of researchers from the UF Health Cancer Center and the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, was granted a 5-year $3.2 million U01 award from the National Cancer Institute to study the benefits and harms of medical marijuana in breast cancer patients.

CCORC 2024 took place from May 30th to 31st gathering researchers, physicians, and medical marijuana industry leaders to share the latest research findings, advance medical marijuana research, and promote the understanding of medical marijuana use on health.

About the Consortium

Established in June 2019, the Consortium for Medical Marijuana Clinical Outcomes conducts, shares, and supports research on the effects of medical marijuana on health conditions and symptoms.
 
Led by a leadership team at the University of Florida, the Consortium engages public and private universities across the state of Florida.
