The challenge of unrealistic target was there along with how to justify each of these targets. Kick started meetings were scheduled with each of the key stakeholders and expectations were set. We decided on our target group and started pulling out data from variety of sources. The collected data was then sent across to teams for validation so that the final numbers can be discussed or negotiated when the need be. It took us three weeks’ time to go over the data and come to a common understanding along with proper documentation. The final discussion happened with the leadership who needed all the inputs on each of the targets that had been split with the teams. After many iterations and discussions, we were able to distribute SMART targets to each of our teams. This time around the performance was better, people were will prepared and we had less strenuous quarters.

The task started with gathering requirements from different teams about their current employees and what extra needs to be taken care of going forward in this year. It took 2 weeks of mailing and follow ups that we received details of people involved, their salary scales, chargeability codes and duration along with additional requirements. The chargeability aspect had to be checked with the finance team to understand how much more can be leveraged. I then calculated the forecast report for all the five capabilities. The budget was then submitted to the leadership for review it went through a lot of many iterations and finally we got a little less that what we had expected. Nevertheless, we were still able to manage and not overshoot it during the year.
